Jollyes is to open a new flagship store in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, this weekend (March 24-25).
The store at Gallagher Retail Park will be the first one to have a full suite of Jollyes latest service offerings – a new-look Jolly Groomer pet spa, a Community Pet Clinic and a Wash & Go dog wash – as well as a raw food frozen ‘shop-in-shop’ and a selection of small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, fish and reptiles.
The Scunthorpe store will be Jollyes’ 87th outlet, and the company is on target to reach £100 million turnover in 2023 and have 100 stores within 18 months. The store’s new service offering is part of a £1million investment in the roll out of vet clinics, grooming parlours and other pet services across the estate. Between now and the summer of 2024, Jollyes plans to double the number of stores that offer dog grooming salons and community pet clinics offering services such as vaccinations and microchipping.
Jollyes in Scunthorpe will be managed by Steve Marshall, who joins the company after five years at Morrisons, with The Jolly Groomer salon managed by Chloe Metcalfe.
For the launch of the store, the retailer will be teaming up with local charity Jerry Green Dog Rescue, who will be offering shoppers the opportunity to help raise funds by sponsoring a kennel or taking part in its ’60 Miles in May’ initiative.
Jerry Green Dog Rescue’s ‘Ambassadogs’ will also be on hand during the day, along with Scunthorpe United FC’s bunny mascots Scunny Bunny and Scunny Hunny Bunny, who’ll declare the store open by running through bales of hay.
Local community station Steel FM will also provide live entertainment, including offering the scruffiest dog to turn up on the day a free wash in Jollyes new ‘Wash & Go’ dog-wash booths.
Jollyes regional manager Kerry Midgely said: “We’ve started work today getting the store ready for opening later in the week.
“We plan to open our doors on Friday March 24 for the first time and then have our formal grand opening at 10.15am on Saturday March 25. We can’t wait to show off our flagship store.”
