Moving jobs can sometimes turn out to be a case of out of the frying pan into the fire, warns Lynda Ward, founder of award-winning recruitment specialist Pet Trade Solutions.
“When it comes to career advice, I always advise people to take a long hard look at their current situation and prospects before making a move,” she said.
“I receive many calls from people asking advice on whether or not they should accept a job offer or seek a new role and, perhaps surprisingly, this can sometimes result in advising them to remain where they are when I feel it is in their best interests.”
Lynda says a confidential chat can potentially reveal things that could easily be resolved if the person spoke to their existing employer and suggested ways to make changes – without them taking the drastic action of leaving an otherwise satisfactory position.
“My business is to find and fit the best people to the best role with the best company to the benefit of both employee and employer and my recommendation to everyone is always: look before you leap.”
