Pets & Friends is planning to roll out more refill stations following a successful trial at the company’s Shrewsbury store.
The concept allows customers to purchase loose goods using their own containers or complimentary paper bags to help reduce product and packaging waste. Hoppers contain lines including Collards dry dog food, Wellness Core dry cat food, Wecat natural cat litter and Johnston & Jeff wild bird seed, priced per 100g.
With the Shrewsbury trial proving successful, the company is now planning to roll out the concept to more Pets & Friend stores.
Steve Collard, head of retail at Pets & Friends, said: “It’s about convenience and value, customers can top up and only pay for what they need, minimizing both packaging and food waste.
“We’ve had a fantastic response to the trial in Shrewsbury and can’t wait to expand, as we know this will also help customers who have tighter budgets and can’t always bulk buy.”
Pets & Friends, part of the Kennelpak group, operates 18 stores, 15 grooming salons, national ecommerce and a personalised pet subscription service.
