A planning application for Pets at Home’s new national storage and distribution centre in Staffordshire, which we reported on in September, has now been submitted following an extensive public consultation.
The proposed development of the 52-acre site at Stafford North Business Park, close to junction 14 of the M6, will create a purpose-built warehouse unit, a three-storey office and two double-storey hub offices.
Pets at Home has signed a 20-year conditional agreement for lease on the development, with construction set to start on site in 2021 pending planning consent by Stafford Borough Council.
The planning application, submitted by Stoford Developments on behalf of Pets at Home, consists of a first phase of 670,000 sq ft, with a 100,000 sq ft extension to the warehouse forming part of phase two.
Stoford joint managing director, Dan Gallagher, said: “This development represents a fantastic opportunity to give Pets at Home a modern, purpose-built facility in a superb central location. Our proposals for Stafford North Business Park have been submitted following an extensive online stakeholder and public consultation.
“We believe this development has the potential to become one of Staffordshire’s key employment sites and will make a valuable contribution in sustaining jobs in the region during a challenging period for the local and national economy.”
