Firefighters, police and paramedics were called to a Pets at Home distribution centre in Stoke-on-Trent yesterday (Monday) after reports of a worker being trapped in machinery.
Stoke on Trent Live reported that fire service crews used airbags to free the man, who was then flown by air ambulance to hospital.
“A 39-year-old man, from the Tunstall area, was found with serious injuries and conveyed to hospital by the ambulance service. Officers informed the Health and Safety Executive. Inquiries are continuing,” said a spokesperson for Staffordshire police.
Pets at Home said the company’s thoughts were with the worker involved.
“An incident occurred at our Campbell Road distribution centre in Stoke-on-Trent on Monday,” a company spokesperson said. “Our thoughts at this time are with the colleague involved and we are doing all we can to support the emergency services teams.”
