A ‘welcome’ reduction into antibiotic use in pets has been identified in a new report.
The UK Veterinary Antibiotic Resistance and Sales Surveillance (VARSS) Report 2020, launched in November, has been welcomed by the British Veterinary Association (BVA).
Veterinary antibiotic use in cats and dogs was shown to be down by 7%.
BVA Senior Vice President James Russell said: “Antimicrobial resistance remains a huge concern for vets, which is why we must maintain this momentum in the face of the ongoing global threat it poses to the health of animals, humans and the environment.”
