The PATS show in Telford is a big focus for The Nutriment Company this year, according to recently-appointed UK md Peter Roy.
Roy started last month as UK md at the company, which encompasses freeflow raw food under the Totally Natural brand, raw food under the Natural Instinct and Nutriment brands, treats from Nova Dog Chews and Pet Treats Wholesale and supplements under the Aniforte label.
He told PBW News: “We are playing in the pet specialty market, and that’s why will be at PATS with all of our business units. You can’t say you are supporting the UK pet trade and not go.”
PATS will be a showcase for a number of brand new lines, including 1kg packs of free-flow raw food; high meat, single-protein superfood nuggets; and a range of gently steamed fresh products under the Nutriment brand aimed at pet owners who usually feed raw, but need a convenient alternative for holidays, for example.
Deals on freezers will also be available at the Nutriment stand (E49) during the duration of the show.
Roy continued: “Being part of a larger group brings economies of scale in production, but also delivers more innovation, easier distribution, more marketing opportunities and better brand awareness. Just because we have some scale doesn’t mean we can’t innovate.
“The idea is to draw our businesses together. By bringing manufacturing and other disciplines in one place innovation gets better, and speed gets better.”
The company’s focus for 2024-25 is innovation, continues Roy, with more food and treat lines, including both air-dried and freeze-dried products, in the pipeline.
“We are really keen to offer a holistic view of quality natural feeding, with a good-better-best architecture, using human grade ingredients,” added Roy. “We aim to offer something for everyone, whether it is free-flow mince or superfood enhanced single protein nuggets.
“Our overall focus is on the pet speciality trade, innovation and good quality products to encourage responsible pet ownership.”
The PATS show will run on September 29-October 1 at the Telford International Centre.
